- 39% of children live in Poverty
- 1-6 Children have inadequate nutrition
- 29% of the children are homeless living between grandparents and friends
- Programs to provide better opportunities for children living in poverty are also scarce with 2.5 children in the county for every space in a preschool program.
- Children raised in poverty often experience fewer rich learning environments, less parental nurturing and high levels of toxic stress that can adversely affect their development.
- Minority children and those in female-headed households are disproportionately impacted by poverty, leading to continued disparities in health, social and economic outcomes.
