Who Are The Knights of Columbus?
The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic family fraternal service organization with over 1.8 million members participating within more than 15,000 councils across the USA, Canada, and around the globe. The members and their families volunteer in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families, and young people by donating their time, talent, and treasure to fill specific needs.
Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven and some of his parishioners, petitioned the Connecticut state legislature on March 29, 1882, resulting in officially chartering the Knights of Columbus as a fraternal benefit society. The Order is still true to its founding principles of Charity, Unity and Fraternity.
St. Hilary Council #14551
Since 2008, St. Hilary Council #14551 focuses its purpose and mission ministering to the parish, parish school, and our community at large. More than 230 members actively serve our local church, youth, family, and membership. We also contribute our energies to the Ohio State Council and Supreme Council. Achievement of numerous awards throughout our six years is confirmation by the Ohio State Council at the State Conventions held annually. We pursue excellence in programs that serve Christ through service to God and to neighbor. Thousands of hours of service logged by our brother Knights and thousands of dollars raised to support local charities prove our commitment to each cause. Our Knights travel to Appalachia and El Salvador to serve some of the poorest communities in our nation and in our world. We stand for the culture of life for all persons from conception to natural death. Our influence continues growing stronger as our membership grows. Committing to God and to neighbor we do all God’s work in faith, hope, and love. Join us in service to others.
